Letting Go of Offenses

9/8/2014

When thinking about the word “Unity” I am reminded of Psalm 133:1-2 which says:

“How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. It is like the precious ointment poured on the head, that ran down on the beard, even the beard of Aaron (the first high priest), that came down upon the collar and skirts of his garments (consecrating the whole body) (Amplified Bible).

So often, we find that there is difficulty living in unity. The one word that drives disharmony in families and especially among the Body of Christ is offense. Being offended will hinder your spiritual relationship with the Lord as well as your natural relationships with others.

Offended people always produce negative fruit….bitterness, anger, hurt, resentment, jealously and hatred. Most of the time those that are offended, do not even realize how offended they are. They seem oblivious to their condition because they are focused on the wrong that was done to them, instead of living according to the Word of God.

In the book of John it says that Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. That is his main and only purpose. He uses deceptive and manipulative tactics to pit us against each other and keep us from loving one another. When the enemy gets a stronghold upon our emotions, we will stay in denial and have pity parties with ourselves.

Too often it is a fellow believer that hurts us and it really can feel like betrayal. David says:

“For it is not an enemy who reproaches me, there I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; then I could hide from him. But it was you, a man my equal, my companion and my acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together and walked to the house of God in the throng.” (Psalm55:12-14)

No one ever wants to think that someone close to us would ever hurt us but it happens. The closer the relationship with the person who has hurt you; the deeper the pain and offense that you will feel on the inside.  The real question becomes is what will you do when this happens? Will you run to God and do what His Word says? Will you forgive that person and put the past behind you?

Don’t be blind to Satan’s tactics and tricks. He wants to keep us in bondage. Unforgiveness will affect our way of thinking, our prayer life and our faith. God’s Word is the only thing that will open our eyes and set us free from holding any feelings of injustice that we feel has been done to us.

God's Plans and Purposes Are Good!

Jesus Christ paid the price for us to walk and talk intimately with God. When He died on the Cross and defeated the enemy, Jesus tore down the middle wall of partition that separated us from having direct access to the Father. For believers, it is a right and privilege to be able to go into the presence of God. We don’t have to wait for a High Priest to go on our behalf; we ourselves can go boldly to the throne of Grace.

When you become hungry and thirsty for God, it can seem as though Satan will attack you more and more. His plan is to discourage you from seeking God and desiring the fullness of His Presence. He doesn’t want us to experience the power, peace and protection that come from being in the presence of God. That same power and blessings that comes from your obedience to the Word of God.

Don't allow the voices  of your spiritual enemy to discourage or defeat you. Don't allow his tactics to make you feel ashamed or unworthy to be in God's presence. You are not a mistake or error. Before the foundation of the earth, the Lord knew you and had a planned established for your life.  Jeremiah 29:11 says that God has good plans for us. Those plans are good and not evil. You were designed to win in this life.

Be Encouraged - You Were Made to Win

There is a statement that many people say, “It’s not whether you win or loose, its how you play the game.” That statement is meant to make you feel good, especially if you have lost a big game or didn’t accomplish a goal. The truth is God made you to be a winner. As a believer, God has provided in His word everything you need through Christ Jesus for victory in your life.

You can’t afford to think like a loser or act like you are defeated. God designed and equipped you to be victorious. He doesn’t expect you to fail and you should never think you are a failure.

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Corinthians 15:57 (NKJV)

“…despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”

Romans 8:37 (NLT)

Don’t be moved by what is happening in your life today. Renew your mind with the Word of God and discover He designed you to win in every area of your life.

Love Your Children

As I am resting in the Lord and enjoying this beautiful day; I am reminded of how special it was growing up. It was so special  having two wonderful parents who loved us kids so much and there were nine of us. I know with out a shadow of a doubt, each one of us were special to our parents. They saw the best in each one of us and loved unconditionally.

Take a moment and show your children, just how much you love them. Speak greatness into their life, speak words of faith over them and expect them to come to pass. Don't focus on what they are doing that needs to be changed, focus on who the Lord says they are.....a royal priesthood, joint heirs, blessed coming in and blessed going out.

Encourage your children to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Encourage them to trust in the Lord with all of their heart and don't lean to their own understanding. We as parents have the ability to affect the next generation and it begins right in our own house.

Being Led By The Holy Spirit

When Jesus saved us, He gave us a new nature and now we are new creatures in Christ.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

It is the inward man, not the outward man that becomes a new creature in Christ Jesus. You will still have the same body, hair color, height and eye color you had before you were saved. Our inner man was changed the day we made the decision to receive Jesus Christ  as our Lord and Savior.

As children of God, we can expect to be led by the Spirit of God. (Romans 8:14)The Holy Spirit is on our side! He is always ready to lead us into right decisions and right actions; to give us the inspiration and motivation to act righteously and courageously. He will help us resist the devil, manifest the fruit of the spirit, operate in spiritual gifts and most importantly help us to grow in Christ Jesus.

Walking to the beat of the Holy Spirit means you will not walk to the beat of the world.  What you hear in your spirit will be different than what you hear with your ears. When you begin to rely on His direction, you will care less about what other people say or do.  You will find the direction He tells you to move is always the right direction for your life. His timing is always the right timing and the results are always the best results.

You must not forget to pray and simply ask God for help and expect the Holy Spirit to lead you. Most of us have not begun to move into the fullness of all that God our Father has prepared for us. Make a decision to change and purpose to allow the Holy Spirit to guide you.

Walk by faith, not by sight!

When You Pray - Pray In Jesus Name!

7/24/2011

We are to approach the Father God in prayer in the Name of Jesus! Jesus never told His disciples to pray to Him. They were always to pray to the Father in Jesus' Name. If we wish to be sure of reaching the throne of God with our prayers, we must come to God according to His Word. Jesus said:

“At that time you won't need to ask me for anything. The truth is, you can go directly to the Father and ask him, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven't done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.” (John 16:23-24 NLT)

Jesus said we are to ask the Father in His Name. There isn't any other way to approach or come to God. Yes, we can worship Jesus, and worship is a type of prayer. We can tell Jesus how much we love and appreciate Him, but when it comes to praying and asking, we must ask the Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Many people know who God is as Elohim, El Shaddai or Jehovah Rapha; but they don't know anything about coming to God as their Father. In other words, when they're praying they don't know that God is a loving caring Father that sent His only Son, to redeem us from the curse of the law. He loved us so much; that He wanted us to win in life and that could only be accomplished through the shed Blood of Jesus. He's God to the world, but He's Father to believers. There is real joy in knowing that the Father will answer our prayers
