“At that time you won't need to ask me for anything. The truth is, you can go directly to the Father and ask him, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven't done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.” (John 16:23-24 NLT)
Jesus said we are to ask the Father in His Name. There isn't any other way to approach or come to God. Yes, we can worship Jesus, and worship is a type of prayer. We can tell Jesus how much we love and appreciate Him, but when it comes to praying and asking, we must ask the Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Many people know who God is as Elohim, El Shaddai or Jehovah Rapha; but they don't know anything about coming to God as their Father. In other words, when they're praying they don't know that God is a loving caring Father that sent His only Son, to redeem us from the curse of the law. He loved us so much; that He wanted us to win in life and that could only be accomplished through the shed Blood of Jesus. He's God to the world, but He's Father to believers. There is real joy in knowing that the Father will answer our prayers.
